Port chuffing is due to air-pressure change in the sub enclosure. It might be really rattling on the floor as well. Is it placed on hardwood floor? No, it's definitely coming out of the port. The sound is loudest at the port (but it's a quiet rattling sound). WebMay 5, 2013 · As more and more port area is blocked, the air velocity in the port starts to go up and eventually it starts to make chuffing noise on the low notes. I got it to that point and then rounded over the ends of the foam to create a flared port which eliminated the chuffing.
