That will make no difference. Yes....putting the red mark on fin #10 is a good idea. That is 27° BTDC. Why the factory used 27° BTDC.....is an excellent reason. WebDuring this procedure, keep the timing light leads away from engine spinning components like the fan and belts. If your distributor has a vacuum advance, make sure the hose is disconnected and plugged. Start and let the engine idle. Direct the timing light on the timing marks. As the light pulses, you'll see the timing marks stationary.
