WebbPhoenician uses a consonantal alphabet of twenty-two letters, corresponding to its phonological system. Phoenician was written from right to left, as with Aramaic and Hebrew, which adopted the same script. Only the earlier inscriptions have some word dividers (short strokes or dots).
