Having said that it would seem that you might want to consider using a the spooling directory source and a hive sink (instead of hdfs). The hive partitions (Partitions on year/Month) would enable you to land the data in the Manner you are suggesting. The spooling directory source requires that the file not change once it has started reading it. If the file changes then it will log an error message and start producing errors like the one you show above. cp is not atomic.
