WebJan 12, 2011 · The big difference was the 267 found in 1979-1982 was a 3.5" bore with a 3.48" stroke (basically a de-bored 305). Horrible idea. That combo made it a very inefficient, weak, lazy engine. The intake valves where nearly as small as SBC hi-po exhaust valves (1.72" vs. 1.60"). WebThis is largely due to an engines’ internal architecture, namely bore (diameter of a piston) and stroke (distance traveled by the piston). Take a 5.0 (302) Ford and a 5.0 (305) Chevy and throw $2000 of go-fast goodies at them and the Ford will run circles around the Chevy.

I think the 305 would put up the best overall torque average. The 307 would fall somewhere between. I've used some of the latest 113 castings on a TBI 305, made 423 FWHP @ 6,500 with them.
